RoboParty
The University of Minho and SAR-Soluções de Automação e Robótica co-organize the first RoboParty in Portugal. It is a 3 days event where youngsters can learn how to build their own robot.
The Robotics Group at the Industrial Electronics Dep. (University of Minho), has been approaching Basic, Secondary and Professioanl schools to foster the desire in the youngsters to enjoy Robotics. THe group has made several demonstrations, speeches and organizations of pedagogical robotics events. The next one is the RoboParty.
RoboParty consists of a pedagogical event which will gather around about 100 teams with 4 persons each, during 3 days and 2 nights (bring your sleeping bag), to teach how to build small robots, in a simple, easy and funny way. There is a short course in the beggining (participants will learn the first steps in Electronic, robots programming, mechanical construction), then a robotic Kit is given developed by the University of Minho and SAR company, to be built (mechanics, electronics, and programming) and after the event it belongs to the team.
Some ludic activities are planned like sports, music, internet, games, parties, etc. Each participant brings his sleeping bag and sleeps in loco during the event. RoboParty is identical to a LANParty and also works 24h/24h but with a pedagogical objective.
The event is being held in the Sports Pavillion of the University of Minho, in Guimarães, from 23-25 March.
